Murders outside Jewish museum a reminder that antisemitism is not just an Israeli problem

Turtle Creek Mayor and Congressional candidate Adam R. Forgie sounded the alarm after the murders of two Israeli Embassy staff members outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C. In a new TribLive op-ed, he stressed that this was not just an attack on Israelis, but an attack on Jews on American soil—in a country that claims religious liberty as a core value.

Forgie argues that antisemitism is not a distant, foreign issue but a “persistent, global toxin” that is thriving here at home, pointing to the surge in antisemitic incidents and the painful connection to the Tree of Life massacre in Pittsburgh. He calls the murders “a moral failure,” warning that we have normalized hate speech and confused extremism with legitimate political discourse.

Most importantly, Forgie insists that solidarity alone is not enough. He calls for stronger hate-crime laws, more comprehensive education, and a national reckoning with the reality that Jews have never been fully safe in America—even now.
